Shure BLX24/SM58: Handheld Wireless Microphone System

The Shure BLX24/SM58 is an entry-level professional wireless handheld microphone system designed for live vocal performance, houses of worship, corporate presentations, and educational facilities. Combining the legendary acoustic profile of the SM58 dynamic cardioid microphone capsule with an accessible analogue wireless architecture, it delivers dependable RF stability, straightforward frequency coordination, and long battery endurance in an intuitive tabletop format.

Industry-Standard SM58 Capsule and BLX2 Handheld Transmitter

The handheld transmitter (BLX2) is fitted with the classic Shure SM58 dynamic microphone capsule, tailored specifically for vocal clarity with a brightened midrange presence peak and controlled low-frequency roll-off. Its uniform cardioid polar pattern isolates the primary vocal source while rejecting off-axis ambient sound, significantly reducing the likelihood of acoustic feedback on loud live stages.

Constructed from lightweight, impact-resistant moulded ABS polymer, the BLX2 transmitter incorporates an integrated dynamic gain adjustment pad (10 dB attenuation) to prevent clipping when handling powerful vocalists. Powered by two standard AA alkaline batteries, the transmitter provides up to 14 hours of continuous operation, making it well suited for full-day corporate seminars or multi-set performance events.

QuickScan Frequency Management and Diversity Reception

Signal reception is handled by the compact BLX4 single-channel tabletop receiver, which employs microprocessor-controlled internal antenna diversity. By continuously monitoring and selecting the cleanest RF antenna path, the internal diversity design minimizes signal dropouts and RF multipath interference across an operational line-of-sight range of up to 100 metres.

Frequency selection is streamlined via Shure's one-touch QuickScan technology. With a single button press, the receiver automatically sweeps the local spectrum to identify and lock onto the cleanest open channel, which can then be matched manually on the transmitter. Depending on the local Australian frequency band allocation (such as the K14 or M17 bands), the system supports up to 12 compatible channels operating simultaneously per frequency band.
