When connected to standard USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) or Thunderbolt ports—such as those on standard Apple Mac setups—the drive operates in backward-compatibility mode at up to 1,000 MB/s.
To sustain throughput during continuous multi-gigabyte transfers or high-bitrate video offloading, the internal controller incorporates an expanded TurboWrite buffer alongside Samsung Dynamic Thermal Guard. This active thermal control keeps surface temperatures within international safety standards (IEC 62368-1) while preventing thermal throttling during sustained writes.
