Dynacord U240:1M: Compact Single-Channel 240W Mixer Amplifier

The Dynacord U240:1M is a commercial-grade single-channel mixer amplifier engineered for small-to-medium installations where speech intelligibility and clear background music are paramount. Part of Dynacord's compact U Series, it packs a robust 240-watt Class D amplifier into a space-saving half-rack, 1 RU chassis. This small footprint makes it an exceptional utility choice for bars, restaurants, retail outlets, houses of worship, and corporate training rooms where equipment space is restricted.

Flexible Audio I/O and Advanced Voice Prioritisation

The U240:1M features a flexible four-input mixing matrix tailored for paging and media playback. Inputs 1 and 2 are balanced mic/line channels selectable via rear-panel DIP switches, complete with switchable plus 48V phantom power to accommodate high-quality condenser boundary or paging mics. Channel 1 features a contact-override trigger that initiates a built-in two-tone chime, serving as an attention-grabbing alert before announcements.

Channel 2 incorporates an adjustable VOX Ducking circuit. When an announcer speaks into the priority microphone, the mixer automatically attenuates the background music (routed through the line-level RCA Input 3 or Input 4) by a user-defined level between 0 dB and minus 45 dB. Once the speech finishes, the background audio smoothly ramps back up to its original level, providing a hands-free solution for venue staff.

Output Options and Dedicated Emergency Handling

The energy-efficient Class D topology delivers its full 240-watt capacity across multiple operational profiles. Installers can easily configure the output stage via DIP switches to match low-impedance configurations (4 Ohms or 8 Ohms) or constant-voltage distributed speaker systems (70V or 100V lines). For system safety and audio clarity, the amplifier includes a switchable 120 Hz high-pass filter to prevent transformer saturation in budget ceiling speakers, alongside a permanent 20 Hz low-cut filter to protect drivers from low-end rumble.

For public safety compliance, the unit includes a high-priority EMG emergency override input that accepts line-level or high-impedance 100V signals. When triggered by a fire alarm or central voice-evacuation system, all local media inputs are overridden to ensure critical instructions are delivered clearly across the zone. A Remote Power Off contact port is also provided, allowing the unit to be placed into a low-power standby mode (consuming just 1.25 watts) when the facility is locked up.

Installation and Rack Configuration Options

The physical format of the U Series is built around system modularity. The mixer amplifier is supplied with a comprehensive hardware accessory pack containing single rack-mounting ears, dual rack-mounting joiners, and under-counter brackets. Because it sits at exactly half a rack width, two units can be bolted side-by-side inside a standard 19-inch equipment rack, allowing contractors to effectively deliver a 480-watt or dual-zone footprint within a single rack unit slot.
