FreeSpace FS4CE In-Ceiling Loudspeaker: Premium Audio and Safety Integration
The Bose FreeSpace FS4CE in-ceiling loudspeaker represents the next generation of trusted installed audio solutions, meticulously engineered to deliver superior sound quality for both background music and voice announcements across almost any commercial environment. This unit blends high-fidelity performance with robust design and simplified installation, providing consistent tonal quality across the entire FreeSpace FS family. The FS4CE is particularly versatile, featuring an IP55 weather rating that makes it suitable for covered outdoor areas and wet installations, extending premium sound beyond traditional interior spaces.
Coaxial Transducer Technology for Tonal Consistency
The FS4CE features a single 114 mm (4.5 in) woofer designed to ensure transducers provide both clear voice reproduction for paging and smooth, balanced frequency response for enjoyable background music. The sophisticated engineering allows installers to maintain a consistent sound profile across varied loudspeaker types—including other in-ceiling, surface-mount, and pendant-mount FS models—ensuring seamless integration within a multi-zone system. The loudspeaker achieves broad coverage with a wide 145° horizontal and 145° vertical angle, offering excellent sound distribution. Its operational frequency range extends from a solid 70 Hz up to 17,000 Hz (-10 dB).
Advanced Power Configuration and Safety Compliance
Designed for professional audio infrastructure, the FS4CE supports both low-impedance (8Ω) and high-impedance 70V/100V systems via an easy-to-access front-baffle input location. In low-impedance mode, the unit provides a nominal impedance of 8Ω with 40 W long-term continuous power handling (160 W peak). For line voltage systems, the FS4CE provides multiple transformer taps, including 2.5 W, 5 W, 10 W, 20 W, and 40 W for 70V applications, and 5 W, 10 W, 20 W, and 40 W for 100V applications, offering flexibility in system design and power allocation. Crucially, the loudspeaker is certified for public safety and voice alarm systems, meeting stringent standards including EN 54-24 and UL 1480A, and is plenum-rated in compliance with UL 2043 for installation in air-handling spaces.
Durable Construction and Optimised Installation
The loudspeaker’s modern aesthetic features an engineered-plastics front baffle and integrated steel-formed backcan, complemented by a powder-coated perforated steel grille. The removable and rotatable logo provides flexibility for orientation, and the entire unit is available in both black and white colours (similar to RAL 9005 and 9003) to seamlessly blend with diverse ceiling designs. The recent upgrade to UL 1480A certification allows the ceiling-mount loudspeakers to be painted, providing a flawless finish. Installation is streamlined with three mounting arms and Euroblock inputs. The robust construction provides an IP55 ingress protection rating, making the FS4CE reliable in demanding environments with moisture, and it optimises performance in a wide operating temperature range from -25 °C to 70 °C.
